It is only with the heart that one can see rightly

Gurmat, timeless spiritual wisdom that lies at the heart of the Sikhi and has been passed down in writing (Gurbani), reminds us that the Divine cannot be found outside. For the holiest of all places is not a place in the usual sense.

Spiritual students (Sikh) who lead their life humbly and are willing to learn throughout their lives come to realize that the holiest of all places, the temple of all temples (Hari Mandir), is the heart, where the wisdom and virtues of the nameless source of all life continually blossom. Awakened students (Gursikh, Gurmukh) live consciously in the now. They are aware that the truest of all religions is the one that allows us to act wisely and purely in everyday life. They live intuitively and equanimous in harmony with divine wisdom (Hukam). They no longer identify with transient appearances, emotions, childhood imprints, dogmas, ideologies, beliefs, their body and everything that alienates them from their spiritual essence. These students have mastered the art of transcending ephemerality, including their social identity.

This inner journey, which begins with a mental decolonization (Padea Anpadea) and leads to self-relization (Apna Mul Pachan), healing and perfection (Puran Brahm, Sabat Surat), is described by the Wise Ones as a true pilgrimage and a bath of wisdom. They remind us of this journey of the heart in their wonderfully poetic way using a wide variety of metaphors:
