Sikhi: Living with Wisdom
Sikhi (Sikh religion, Sikhism), the journey of life-long learning, evolved in the Panjab region from the 15th century onwards. This young world religion has unique traditions, including its own poetic script-language (Gurmukhi), naming conventions, devotional recitation style, and noble attire. Sikhi draws on timeless spiritual wisdom (Gurmat) revealed to over 30 Enlightened Ones (Gur, Bhagat), which has been preserved until today (Gurbani). It inspires around 25 million Sikhs worldwide, and 35,000 in the German-speaking regions. Sikhi views all sentient beings as part of one family. Its wisdom helps reflecting upon childhood imprints and estrangement from divinity. Gurmat thus paves the way to distinguish natural needs from desires, transcend the diaspora of ephemerality, and embrace a cyclical worldview while living a dignified, ethical, healthy, and spiritual life in harmony with nature and the Divine. About us
The SikhiCouncil is an independent voluntary initiative. We provide insights into Gurmat, timeless spiritual wisdom that has been handed down in writing (Gurbani). It enables creating unity while embracing diversity. Based on Gurmat, which is at the heart of the fifth largest world religion Sikhi, we foster respectful exchange among and with Sikhs of the younger generations as well as interfaith dialogue. We are committed to peaceful coexistence and Freedom of Religion and Belief (FoRB). In line with the UN 2030 Agenda (SDGs), we focus on well-being, education, environmental protection, peace, and global partnerships. We are available as a point of contact for the media, educational and healthcare institutions, and government agencies. Our partners include the Global Ethic Foundation (Stiftung Weltethos), the Foundation against Racism, and SikhTeachings.

The holiest place is where wisdom dwells in our heart
Guru Granth Sahib, 266, M.5The truest of all religions is where wisdom and purity is found. The highest of all actions is that which removes our inner pollution and connects with the Divine within us. The highest effort is that which reunites us with the divine ocean of all enlightened souls - our true home. The most supreme wisdom is that which makes us immortal. Which lets us understand and internalise the virtues of the Divine. The holiest of all religious places is the heart where spiritual wisdom and purity shines.

When we surrender to the higher wisdom of life, we experience the mystery of oneness
Guru Granth Sahib, 885, M.5Some say Ram Ram, others Khudae. Some praise Guseia, others Allah. Who is both, cause and effect. Accepting the grace, this is realised. Pause. Some bathe at pilgrimages, others go on Hajj. Some perform worship rituals, others bow their heads. Some read the Vedas, others Abrahamic scriptures. Some wear blue robes, others white. Some call themselves Muslims, others Hindus. Some long for the Paradise Bhistu, others for the Paradiss Surgindu. Nanak, those who realise the higher wisdom of the one, experience the mystery of oneness.

Friendship with our spiritual soul self lets us blossom and see behind the facade
Guru Granth Sahib, 924, M.5One Infinite Unity. Experienced through spiritual wisdom. Beloved, my beloved, you are always close to me, my beloved. You, who are more valuable than the transient life, yes more valuable than the transient life, with my inner eyes I have recognised you, you who are more valuable than the transient life. With my inner eyes I have experienced you, you who dwell in everyone with your unfathomable and immortalising sweetness. You who are always with us and yet cannot be found. But those, intoxicated by the transient world, cannot overcome the delusion of duality and indulge in everyday gossip. Nanak, without spiritual wisdom, no recognition of the beloved who is so near is possible.
